Leigh-Ann Lethco

Wisconsin – Northern Sub-Area Chair

I am the Handbell Choir director at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. I also teach courses in music education and many other music courses including conducting, directing band ensembles, instrument techniques courses, music theory, and student teacher supervision. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Handbell Choir includes new and experienced ringers each semester. We have been active in the community and on campus and have worked with many student and faculty composers to perform their new music. I began playing handbells at Ohio University during graduate school when another graduate student taught a Handbell Techniques course. Since then, I have played in handbell choirs in Louisiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin as a member and as a sub ringer and sub director. I have presented clinics locally to high schools and churches and lead a workshop for Area 7. Several of my university students now lead their own handbell choirs. I am a former public school teacher in instrumental music (5-12 band) and general music (K-6). My degrees are in Music Education with minors in Conducting from Ohio University (BM, MM) and Louisiana State University (PhD). At home I enjoy gardening, staying physically active, and supporting my very musically active daughters.
